That means that the game may have crashed (usually the game not finding the "lang.txt" file in the download folder, or I made some typo). Sometimes, you may have to re-extract the game or start the game again and everything works correctly.

This game is made in GameMaker, but it started in Game Maker 8.0 and then moved to GameMaker: Studio 1.4 before.
+
MS Paint mainly, with the GM image editor for touch-ups. Paint.net and GIMP were also used, but for very few things.
+
Favorite Freedom Songs in no particular order: Icy Slopes, Final Brawl, Main Theme V3, Leader's Wrath, and Party Time.
+
Audacity for audio editing, LMMS for a couple sound effects, BFXR and ChipTone mainly for sound effects, BeepBox for beats, Bosca Ceoil for one of my favorite songs, and MuseScore 3 for the rest of the songs.
+
The game uses a flag provided by GameMaker itself to determine whether the computer is able to run shaders. If your computer is able to run shaders, the game will display just fine, so please disregard the message.

Not really a game-specific question, but I'll tell you! It is a mix of electric (I was fascinated with electricity, which was why I was interested with computers and games in general), and ferrets (The other animal other than cats/dogs that I always loved learning about as a kid). I also go by Eleferrets, so it can be used interchangeably. Eleferrets was made first, but I made the game writing "Eleferret" to avoid confusion.

Somewhat? I just voiced some clips to add a bit of flair.

I would like to keep my options open. I cannot confirm that I am even making another game (At least as big as this one... One thing is that it depends on intense negotiations between the black cat and I). I want to try and make another project that I had an idea for, but it may not be made in GameMaker. What I can say is that Freedom will be supported for as long as I can, and maybe I might add some things in the meantime.

The lang.txt file is for all the strings used in the game, and the language.txt file is to select language options in the game, allowing users to make their own translations as needed and share it with others. The lang.txt section's name has to match the first three letters of any language you add to the line-separated language.txt file. If you wanted it to be an official option, you can add a new section (you can copy and paste the entire "eng" section and change the "eng" to something else), email me the lang file with the new translated text (it is recommended to use a text editor that can format JSON files and keep the "\n" and "\"" where they were) and the name that you want to be referred to as, and I will add it to the game and add a mention with that name.
+
If you wanted to update a translation (typos, formalities), then email me the updated lang file and the name you want to be referred to as, and I will get to updating it as soon as I can.
+
That's not really a question.
+
I don't know? Restarting with 'R' or the set restart key may help!

I am by no means an expert in GMS2 or GML, but if you want advice or want to ask a question about how I did something, I might have an answer. Contact me if you have any questions.

I have tried to work on this game basically every day in some way for the past three years (as long as I have been in college at the moment). The reasons that it took so long was trying to make all the different code play nicely with each other and making flexible systems, tons and tons of college work, creating a game design document to refer back to, trying to throw together a presentable website, and the engine constantly crashing on me every time I tried making a level and would delete my progress...

I am unable to support more than the platforms already available. If you have a suggestion for another distribution site to put the game on though, I am happy to talk about it.
+
Try: Switching in/out of fullscreen, changing the screen brightness, or exiting and re-entering the room. Moving the camera and changing the angle/position may also help.
+
Usually means something is blocking it. Try clicking on the window, or switching in/out of fullscreen again, or both. Another thing is to try both fullscreen keys as platforms change what keys are used (F4 or F11).

Go to your computer's application data and then go to the "Freedom" folder. If it does not already exist, move the folder named 'ext' from your downloaded location to this folder. If it does exist, add any extra text from the gift folder's "hats.txt" to the ext/hats.txt and add any additional sprites to the application data's ext folder as well. If you don't want to do any of this, just drag the extracted ext folder to your downloaded 'Freedom' folder and replace the folder there.

This game is actually pretty good- if you don't compare it to anything else.
